GENERAL
Apprentice Z. White was fined $500 under the provisions of AR. 218(4) in that she had a mobile phone in her possession in the jockeys’ room at the meeting today, and that she had sent text messages on that mobile phone whilst in the jockeys’ room. In determining penalty, Stewards, having reviewed the text messages, were of the opinion that there were no integrity issues arising out of the messages sent.
Race 1: WESTERN TRUCK GROUP BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M
STAR ADELE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey R. Goltz advised that the mare was hampered considerably on jumping away, however it did not travel strongly at any stage of the race and was hard ridden to improve into the race from the 800m. He went on to say that the mare ran on only reasonably in the home straight and, in his opinion, was most disappointing. Trainer T. Pascoe also expressed disappointment in the performance. He advised that, in his opinion, the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise after the race, however during a veterinary examination some time later that abnormality was no longer present. Mr. Pascoe added that in light of his observation following the race, he will arrange for the mare to be scoped in the coming days, and will report to Stewards should any abnormality become apparent. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant findings.
VIBRATO – Bumped at the 700m.
DRUM MASTER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
RED WEDDING – Tightened for room on jumping away, and then raced in restricted room for a short distance. Brushed the running rail near the 900m. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained for some distance leaving the 900m, and then shifted out approaching the 700m and bumped another runner. Stewards questioned Apprentice W. Peel in relation to her riding in the home straight. Of concern to Stewards was whether Apprentice Peel had applied sufficient vigour on the gelding at that point of the race. Apprentice Peel advised that the gelding proved difficult to ride throughout and had a tendency to hang out. She added that in the early stages of the home straight, she attempted to obtain a run which presented between FORT MYER and ABB ROY, however when ridden along in a hands and heels manner, the gelding got its head up and was reluctant to improve into this run. Apprentice Peel went on to say that approaching the 100m she again attempted to improve into this run, however the gelding was again reluctant to improve between runners and, as a result of her mount hanging out approaching the finishing line, she desisted from riding her mount along when getting close to the heels of FORT MYER. Stewards noted the explanation.
BUZZER BEATER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
COOLMUNDA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
CYCLONE KAYCEE – Began very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Jockey N. Thomas reported that his mount hung in throughout, and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight.
ABB ROY – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 2: SUPAGAS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
HEARTS LIKE OURS – Slow to begin.
STEADY STAR – Tightened for room and eased approaching the 800m when SCARAMOUCHE shifted out abruptly after being crossed and then commenced to overrace.
SCARAMOUCHE – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
VINNY VAVOOM – Forced wider on the track near the 800m and then raced wide for the remainder. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
DISCIPLINE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the mare’s near hind leg consistent with it being galloped on.
GOLDEN SYMPHONY – Bumped at the start.
LEOPARD QUEEN – The mare, which has not raced in over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Forced wider on the track near the 800m.
MISS KOKO – The mare, which has not raced in over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground.

Race 3: HRX TRANSPORT MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
SIMDERELLA – Shifted out abruptly at the start. Raced wide without cover for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which performed below market expectation, revealed no apparent abnormalities.
BOLD DELAGO – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer G. Hay was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
D’OR DAME – Attempted to shift out to improve approaching the 400m, however was prevented from doing so by OFF COURSE and, as a result, was disappointed for a run and steadied from heels.
LITTLE ALBERT – Slow to begin, and then further hampered by another runner which shifted out abruptly. Steadied from heels rounding the home turn.
OFF COURSE – Bumped near the 400m.
SUAVADO – Jockey Beau Appo was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip on a horse out of contention.
Race 4: TEMPLE BUILDERS 2019 CANNONBALL SERIES (HEAT) BENCHMARK 68 H’CAP – 870M
Upon arriving at the barriers, NEW ALLIANCE was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of its rider and passed fit to start.
The start of this race was delayed to enable a gear adjustment to be made to ASK AUDREY after it had been loaded in the barriers.
SIR MAGIC – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
NEW ALLIANCE – Slow into stride.
HIDE THE MOON – Hung out rounding the home turn and forced another wider on the track.

NEWCASTLE DANCER – Shifted out abruptly upon rounding the home turn and made contact with the hindquarters of NEW ALLIANCE and, as a result, lost ground.
Race 5: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 4 PLATE – 1000M
ONG VARN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey S. Sweedman was dislodged from his mount when it broke down rounding the home turn. Jockey Sweedman was advised that he will require a medical clearance prior to next riding. The gelding, which sustained a major injury to its off fore leg, was euthanased on humane grounds. Post mortem swab samples were collected from the gelding.
ROCK BEAT – Forced wider on the track whilst rounding the home turn when the horse to its inside broke down and shifted out.
To enable the veterinary surgeon to attend to the injured horse following the running of this race, the start times of Races 6 and 7 were amended as follows:
Race 6 – 8.32pm
Race 7 – 9.03pm
Race 6: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1625M
MISS CAVALLO – Hung out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be experiencing cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer M. Nolan was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, and must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing. In light of the veterinary report, Mr. Nolan advised that he may consider sending the filly for a spell.
TEARS OF LOVE – When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer’s representative Mr. M. Gleeson advised that the gelding performed disappointingly at its most recent start when racing in a grade of race far superior to tonight’s event. He added that in light of the disappointing performance they elected to add a tongue-tie to the horse’s gear, which he believes was the major contributing factor to the horse’s improved performance.
PERFECT PAGE – Apprentice Z. White reported that, in her opinion, the filly raced somewhat dour today, and ran on only reasonably in the home straight.
RAINGURL – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
KWIKILLA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 7: BLACK & WHITE CABS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1850M
PROUD ROC – Held up rounding the home turn.
