Race 1: A-FILLY-ATE YOUR BUSINESS WITH EL RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 H’CAP – 1000M
 
DRUM MASTER – Bumped on jumping away. Laid out for some distance near the 500m.
 
CRISTOVAO – Bumped on jumping away.
 
NEWCASTLE DANCER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
BEST OF US – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LADY MICAELA – Began awkwardly, and was then slow to muster early speed.
 
Race 2: NO HORSEPLAY – GET EL IN YOUR STABLE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed when BELLARINA MAGIC proved difficult to load.
 
BELLARINA MAGIC – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey E. Ljung was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
GRAND SYMPHONY – Apprentice M. Savva was reprimanded for using the whip on a horse out of contention.
 
WOOLSEY – Jockey B. Appo could offer no explanation for the filly’s disappointing performance. He advised that his mount had travelled well until it was asked to quicken at a point near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained a laceration on its tongue.
 
DANCING ANGEL – Hung out from the 600m, and proved difficult to ride in the home straight.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Apprentice A. Spinks was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Spinks’ prior good record in relation to this rule.
 
Race 3: ENTERPRISE LEGAL: BEST BUSINESS ODDS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1640M
 
MURLESS – On return to scale, jockey K. Yoshida reported that, after obtaining a mid-field position, the gelding came off the bit near the 700m and was under hard riding from that point. He did however advise that the gelding ran on fairly over the concluding stages and, in his opinion, may be better suited over further distances than that of today’s race moving forward in its preparation.
 
FACTORY WARRIOR – Bumped on jumping away.
 
KNOW WHERE TO LOOK – Bumped on jumping away. Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained for some distance near the 1300m.
 
ENCHANTED REIGN – On return to scale, jockey S. Bogenhuber advised that her mount failed to quicken as she had expected in the home straight. She added that, in her opinion, the mare may not have run out a strong 1640m of today’s race and, for this reason, she believes that it would be better suited returning back in distance at its future starts.
 
STELLA’S CHANCE – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden further forward today if circumstances permitted. The gelding was ridden accordingly.
 
AHMAH STAR – Overraced in the early stages and, as a result, shifted to a 3 wide position passing the 1200m and raced wide for the remainder.
 
Race 4: NO HORSING AROUND – CONTACT EL MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M
 
FLYING EDDIE – Bumped by another runner and forced wider on the track near the 200m.
 
DOTTI DEAR – Began awkwardly. Shifted out to secure clear running near the 200m and, as a result, forced another runner wider on the track.
 
JONDY ALL SET – Bumped on jumping away. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority.
 
MISS CRUISEY – Bumped on jumping away. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. After laying in, the filly had to shift wider on the track near the 200m to avoid the heels of another runner.
 
MISS DYNAMIC – After beginning well, the filly obtained the leading position and, as a result, settled further forward in the field than anticipated.
 
MOTOMISS – Shifted out on jumping away.
 
BOBBIE JO – Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight and was disappointed for a run near the 150m and, as a result, had difficulty securing clear running.
 
Race 5: A ONE-HORSE RACE WITH EL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1210M
 
PLUCK A WINNER – Declared a late scratching at 3.10pm due to transport difficulties.
 
SKYQUAKE – Began awkwardly.
 
KNUCKLEBOX – Began awkwardly. Steadied to avoid heels approaching the 1000m.
 
DE NOVO – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Steadied to avoid heels approaching the 1000m.
 
Race 6: VALE PAT BOOSHAND QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1210M
 
DOCTOR COSTELLO – Steadied from heels when crossed by another runner near the 1100m. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LATIN PROPHET – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt, which tailed off, revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer C. Munce will be advised that a warning will be placed on the colt.
 
TERRAJOHNA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BEST TO HURRY – Steadied from heels shortly after the start.
 
MALACHINA – The gelding, which sustained a minor laceration to its near hind leg when being removed from the float, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
REAL FINE WINE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 7: CALTEX TOOWOOMBA QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
 
I’M CALLIN’ DIBS – Jockey E. Ljung could offer no explanation for the gelding’s seemingly disappointing performance.
 
SARASUN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
DIVINE ASCOT – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
TINDER LOVING CARE – Apprentice Z. White was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of Apprentice White’s whip use, however they were also mindful of her poor recent record in relation to this rule.
