Stewards Panel – T Preston (Steward), D MacDonald (Assistant Steward)
Clerk of Scales – D Rossiter
Judge – S Fahey & M Fahey
Veterinarian – Dr M Baffey
Swab Attendants – J Crompton

Race 1: RDO EQUIPMENT JOHN DEERE RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP 1300m

RELICTA- Raced keenly for some distance leaving the 900m.

DEMON DELIVERA- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace. Performed below market expectations. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first such occurrence Trainer C Geran was advised the gelding would now be banned from racing for a period of 3 months and be subject to a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of a Stewards prior to again being permitted to start in a race under the provisions of AR79.

WHERE’S TEEKAY NOW- Raced keenly down the back straight. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer M Currie attributed the geldings winning performance to the addition of the tongue tie for the first time, stating after adding that piece of gear the stable had noted a marked improvement in its work leading into the event. Stewards noted the explanation.

OUTLAW JOSEY WALES- Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain a position with cover closer to the inside running rail. Improved onto heels on entering into the home straight having to be eased and shifted wider whilst laying in across heels, not getting clear running until a point near the 200m.

EUPHRATES- Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace. Raced wide from the 700m.

EYE SHOOT TO WIN- Slow to begin. Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace.

CITROUILLE- Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300m.

SHERWOOD’S ONE- Bumped on jumping.

SHATTER PROOF- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace.

Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 4.

Race 2: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m

KORUTO- Bumped on the hindquarters soon after the start becoming unbalanced and awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied momentarily as a result. Clipped heels and blundered near the 700m almost dislodging Jockey N Fazackerly. On reviewing the patrol footage Stewards determined the incident was as a result of a marginal outward shift from KLINSMAN, which was laying out, consequently taking IRISH MAUDIE marginally wider on the track whilst KORUTO was simultaneously being restrained and shifting in, in an effort to obtain cover. As no rider/s could be apportioned blame no further action was taken other than to remind all riders to exercise care. Raced wide for the majority.

RIVER DANZKA- Laid in near the 500m.

BEST TO HURRY- Raced wide for the majority.

ULTIMATE POWER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted in and away from heels near the 600m.

IRISH MAUDIE- As jockey M Powell was unable to fulfil the engagement due to delays at another race meeting Jockey K Yoshida was substituted as rider of the filly. Bumped on jumping. Taken wider by another runner near the 700m.

LATIN JAZZ- Bumped on jumping.

KLINSMAN- Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid out near the 700m despite the efforts of its rider taking IRISH MAUDIE marginally wider on the track.

EASY COME- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped before becoming awkwardly placed on heels having to be eased, consequently settled further back in the field than may have been expected. Raced keenly near the 600m. Obliged to shift to the inside of heels approaching the 100m to improve.

Race 3: LAWRENCE & HANSON MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m

EGGS BENNY- Slow to begin. Trailed the field for the majority. Laid out rounding the home turn and down the running. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-fore leg. Trainer M Nolan was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

TAKE A PICTURE- Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure down the running.

PRIDE OF NALA- Began awkwardly and bumped.

SOCIAL STAR- Stood flat footed. Trainer P Webster was advised a warning would be placed on the mare as a result. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

LITTLEMISSCANCAN- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 4: PRYDE’S EASIFEED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1625m

ROWLETT- Checked off heels near the 1400m. Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace.

BRING ME- Raced keenly down the back straight as a result of the slow pace.

SENNACHIE- Shifted in when being restrained to obtain a position with cover near the 1400m and in doing so shifted in when not fully clear of ROWLETT. Jockey A Thompson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident, in determining penalty Stewards determined the fact ROWLETT was being ridden forward to obtain a position at the time of the incident to have exacerbated the severity of the interference and therefore to be a somewhat mitigating factor.

GENERAL ELLIOT- Jockey N Evans was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted prior to the 100m.

EPIC LOVE- Bumped near the 350m. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ALALTUN- Raced keenly from the 1400m for the duration of the back straight as a result of the slow pace. Bumped near the 350m.

PUT TO SHAME- Was declared a late scratching at 6:52pm after refusing to proceed to the barrier. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 6:52pm:

4cents in the dollar for the win
4cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
5cents in the dollar for 2nd place
5cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Trainer K Jones was advised the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate under race-day condition prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
