GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 3- MY WHISTLEBLOWER – L. Tilley +1kg (55.5kg)
 
 
Race 1: VALE JACK ROSS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1000m)
 
HARRYANDTHETIGER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after harmlessly dislodging its rider enroute to the barriers and passed fit to start. Jockey S. Apthorpe was assessed by QAS officers and passed fit to fulfill his engagements. Began awkwardly.
 
ORACOLO – Began only fairly before being shifted in behind runners and becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ORSETTO – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
MONTANA LADY – Raced wide and without cover until making a forward move leaving the 550m. Jockey C. Whiteley accidentally dropped his near-side rein near the 200m before regaining its use leaving the 150m.
 
BRIGHT DAISY – Laid out in the early stages. Obliged to shift out and around heels passing the 250m to obtain clear running.
 
ROWDASH – Crowded soon after jumping and was obliged to steady. Jockey K. Zechner stated the gelding failed to let-down as expected after having to settle further back in the field than intended. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: JLS BUILDERS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1300m)
 
CRACK OF DOOM – Slow into stride.
 
TUHINGA – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly leaving the 1200m when being crossed. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THUNDER MOON – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Raced keenly approaching the 1000m when being crossed.
 
ALFA LILY – Momentarily crowded soon after entering the home straight when commencing to weaken.
 
ALERT AND READY – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
 
LI'L WONDER – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in approaching the 550m and brushed the running rail.
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey K. Zechner stated that, in his opinion, being posted wide for the majority proved telling in the geldings finishing efforts. He further added it would derive significant fitness benefit from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TALK TIME – Became awkwardly placed on heels shortly after the start and obliged to steady. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover closer to the running rail. Raced keenly on heels leaving the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
INSTANT KARMA – Momentarily held-up rounding the home-turn.
 
 
Race 3: QBANK CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
KEMI ZABI – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BEAU WITNESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Ipswich on Monday, 25 September 2023 and passed fit to start. Bumped on jumping.

GALEKA – After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was shifted behind runners to obtain a position with cover and subsequently settled further back than may have been expected. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, shifting in passing the 200m and bumping.
 
CRAZY EYED FRED – Began awkwardly before being slow into stride. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1000m, and again near the 600m.
 
MY WHISTLEBLOWER – Trainer L. Hatch stated the gelding which was first-up, would derive a significant fitness benefit from the event.
 
DREAMER'S GIFT – Began awkwardly. Bumped passing the 200m.
 
MISSY'S READY – Apprentice O. Webb stated the mare made a slight upper respiratory noise throughout the event. She further stated that, in her opinion, the mare is better suited to events over shorter distances. Apprentice O. Webb was reminded to ride her mounts out fully to the finish under the provisions of AR131(b).
 
AWAIT THE STORM – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly for a short distance leaving the 1000m and again near the 600m.
 
 
Race 4: LINDSAY STREET MEDICAL CENTRE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)
 
BEEBEE DAZZLER – Slow to begin. Laid in abruptly under pressure rounding the home-turn and severely crowded runners to it inside before continuing to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer K. Kemp was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for its racing manners.
 
YEAH COPY – Eased down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr P. Butterworth was advised of the provisions of the Racing Australia Code of Practice under AR88B(2)(b) being that the gelding would require the results of an ECG and a satisfactory trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
WESTOAK – Bumped soon after the start. Bumped near the 900m. Soon after straightening, laid in and away from another runner and crowded runners to its inside.
 
APPROVAL – Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted in from the 900m until near the 700m, placing MRS ROBINSON in restricted room for some distance. Jockey N. Fazackerely was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Performed below market expectations. Trainer R. Lipp undertook to report back should anything become apparent with the gelding’s condition in the coming days. Jockey N. Fazackerley was fined $400 under AR211(1) in that he did return to scale in excess of the permitted weight.
 
MISTER MODERATION – Soon after entering the home straight crowded by another runner which was laying in and shifted in.
 
PELE PRINCESS – Slow to begin before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Unable to muster sufficient speed to maintain contact with the remainder of the field and trailed throughout before finishing off fairly. When queried, Jockey M. Murphy stated after the filly received kickback in the early stages, it was reluctant to stretch out and commenced to race greenly. He further added the filly finished off its race well. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before being obliged to momentarily steady and shift around heels to obtain clear running approaching the 100m.
 
TEQUILA STEALER – Laid in onto heels leaving the 350m and was obliged to momentarily ease. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MRS ROBINSON – Bumped on jumping before shifting in. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Raced in restricted room from the 900m until a point near the 700m.
 
HOPETOUN SUNRISE – Co-trainer C. Geran was fined $200 for failing to comply with the rider overweight directive in that the request was not lodged by the prescribed time. Furthermore, App J Molloy was reprimanded for accepting a ride when subsequently overweight under the provisions of AR190(3). Following refusal of this request Stewards permitted Jockey S Apthorpe to be substituted as rider of the gelding. Tightened for room approaching the 200m and obliged to restrain.
 
MUST BE THE MONEY – Shifted in approaching the 900m and bumped before commencing to race keenly. Improved onto heels and obliged to be restrain approaching the 400m.
 
THE MANIPULATOR – Crowded on jumping before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: TEDCREW MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
 
EXPEDIENT CHOICE – Raced wide for the majority. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Sharpley was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for the poor performance.
 
FOREBEARS – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly near the 700m for a short distance. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOKYO BANDIT – Slow to begin. Bumped on the hindquarters and became momentarily unbalanced near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.  
 
WORTHY ESSGEE – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 1000m bumped on several occasions with OSCAR THE THIRD and became unbalanced before bumping with TOKYO BANDIT. Raced wide for the majority. App O. Webb stated the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
RED HOT LOVE – Bumped approaching the 150m.
 
SILVANNA'S SONG – Jockey L. Tilley accidentally dropped his whip inside the 200m.
 
OSCAR THE THIRD – Bumped on jumping and blundered soon after when crowded. Passing the 1000m bumped on several occasions with WORTHY ESSGEE and became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PEACH GALANTES – Laid out approaching the 150m when tiring and inconvenienced ZESTY BOY before bumping RED HOT LOVE. Jockey M. Savva was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
INCA ROSE – Began awkwardly. Finished tailed off. Co-trainer M. Sears was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s record for the poor performance.
 
ZESTY BOY (NZ) – Improved onto heels approaching the 150m and obliged to be steadied.
 
TWO TIME GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: WESTERN TRUCK GROUP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1890m)
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing App O. Webb to view the patrol footage of the concluding stages. After viewing the official patrol footage App Webb elected not to proceed with any objection and correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
LUCASAYD – Slow into stride.
 
TROPIC SANDS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted in marginally near the 400m crowding SKATER. Jockey C. Robertson was advised to exercise greater care.
 
ELVEENA – Raced keenly near the 1700m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover.
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Arrived late on course due to transport difficulties. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start with pre-race samples being taken for analysis. Tired noticeably in the home straight. Trainer G. Wright stated the gelding would now most likely be sent for a spell.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Obliged to shift out and around heels to obtain clear running near the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer B. Brown stated the gelding is suited to the Toowoomba track and was now third-up over a more suitable trip. Stewards noted the explanation.  Jockey A. Allen was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his whip use, in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
SKATER – Became under pressure from the 600m. Momentarily crowded near the 400m. Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer C Geran undertook to report back in the coming days should anything become apparent regarding the mare’s condition.
 
EPIC LOVE (NZ) – Slow into stride.
 
 
 
Race 7: VALE JOHN 'CRACKER' MCDONALD MAIDEN PLATE (1890m)
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Restrained approaching the 1000m in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DANECINO – Began awkwardly before becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels and obliged to steady. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Shifted in and momentarily hampering CASSIE’S GIRL near the 1700m. Apprentice T. Fenlon was advised to exercise greater care. Approaching the 1400m, Apprentice T. Fenlon’s saddle slipped forward, placing her at a significant disadvantage before having to be eased out of the event near the 1000m as a result.

TOP WEEKEND – Raced keenly near the 1600m.
 
WAR SERVICE – Performed below market expectations. Trainer C. Jokic reported that the stable had not supported the gelding with bookmakers, adding that based on the gelding’s recent work and performances, they were not disappointed with the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
AWESOME MOON (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CASSIE'S GIRL – Momentarily awkward on heels and obliged to ease leaving the 1700m. Improved onto heels approaching the 500m and was obliged to steady. Momentarily held-up entering the home straight.
 
LA VITTORIA – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover. Improved onto heels and obliged to ease near the 1300m before shifting wider soon after.
