GENERAL

As. A Van Der Sanden was injured and not riding at the meeting, rider changes were made as per the Stewards Summary. As there was no replacement rider available for HIZOU in race 5, the gelding was declared a late scratching at 3:00pm.

Jockey J King was fined $200 for accepting rides in races 1,2 when overweight.

RACE 1: WARRA HOTEL/ROBINSON GRAINS & ASSOCIATED SPONSORS MAIDEN PLATE – 825M


OVA WAITIN’ was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 1:00pm after the filly refused to load into the barriers. Upon the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on OVA WAITIN’ be refunded with the following deductions to apply.-

1st- 0 Cents the wins, 3 Cents the place.
2nd- 4 Cents the place.
3rd- 4 Cents the place.

Trainer S McEwan advised OVA WAITIN’ would now be retired.

POETIC DRAGON- Raced wide throughout.

BRED IN THE RED- Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GOING BALLISTIC- As the was no other rider available to replace A. Van Der Sanden, G Geran was permitted to the the horse 1.5kg over weight. Steadied from heels approaching the winning post.

COALBANK CAVIAR- Began awkwardly.

GO GET SUM- Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.


RACE 2: GRAINCORP/DALBY RURAL TRADERS CRT/ASSOCIATED SPONSORS CLASS B H'CAP – 1100M

FOR ME ANGENTINA- Began awkwardly.

DIVA MISS- Raced wide throughout.


RACE 3: ASSOCIATED GRAINS/LANDMARK & ASSOCIATED SPONSORS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

SMILING MISTRESS- Was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8:35am. Trainer S Saal-Winter was fined $100 for failing to scratch by the prescribed time.

FLAMBOYANT LASS- Raced wide rounding the 800m turn and was forced to race wide without cover from that point. Post-race Veterinary Inspection revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the off fore leg.

BLUBYTWO- Raced wide throughout.

HERE COMES HOLLY- Steadied from heels shortly after the start.

RACE 4: DALBY MACHINERY CENTRE/ CROWE HORWATH & ASSOC. SPONSORS OPEN H'CAP – 1200M

BILLY GOAT- Jumped in the air at the start.

I’M THE ONE- Forced to steady to avoid heels leaving the 1100m.

FAVORITE SHADOW- Jumped in the air at the start. Tightened for room and lost ground near the 1100m and again at the 1000m.

Jockey F Jervis was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1100m she permitted her mount KATIKA to shift out which was the major contributor to YARRANDI, FAVORITE SHADOW and MORE OF THE ZAIM all being severely tightened for room, further resulting in YARRANDI being checked. In this incident Stewards established that JAM TIN (G Geran) which was racing to the outside, did shift in marginally contributing to the interference for which Jockey Geran was reprimanded.

Jockey Jervis’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence midnight 9 July 2016 and to expire 15 July 2016. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the contribution of Jockey Geran in this incident and furthermore this was the first careless riding suspension Jockey Jervis has received during her riding career.


RACE 5: PATRON’S/ JOHNSON’S HOLDEN & NISSAN DEALERS BENCHARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M

SINGARAJA- Jumped in the air at the start. Tightened for room and checked approaching the finish line. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey C Eaton pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DINA’S DRAGON resulting in in that running being taken in onto SINGARAJA which was checked. Jockey Eaton’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 9 July 2016 and to expire at midnight 17 July 2016.

BITTEN- Raced wide throughout.

ROYALTOWN ROAD- Bumped at the start and lost ground.

NADOR- Raced wide throughout.

I’M NO RUBY- After being caught wide early, was restrained to a position closer to the rails near the 100m. Held up and unable to improve from the 500m to the 100m.
