QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT WARWICK TURF CLUB WARWICK – SATURDAY 26th MARCH 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft 5 Races 1-2, Soft 6 Races 3-6 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – D MacDonaldClerk of Scales – D RossiterJudge – S FaheyVeterinarian – Dr C ReardonSwab Attendants – Dr C ReardonStarters – T Woodham Race 1: W. CAREY & SONS QUALITY MEATS MAIDEN PLATE 2yo & UP SET WEIGHTS 800m TIME FLIES BY- Slow to begin. Whilst racing ungenerously commenced to lay out approaching the 600m becoming awkwardly placed on heels as a result. STORM’S WILL- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. SIZZLE OVER- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. DRUMS ON FIRE- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost a hind-plate in running. STRATA KING- Raced wide for the majority. LADY CAN STAY- Tired noticeably over the concluding stages and performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination found the mare to have sustained a right front tendon injury. Trainer S Barker was advised the mare would require a medical certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Race 2: BROWNLIE CONCRETORS MAIDEN PLATE 2yo & UP SET WEIGHTS 1100m SIMPLY ROSE- Due to a clerical and administrative error the mare may have been shown as racing without blinkers in some form guides. This was incorrect and the mare was to race with that piece of gear. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement. PREDICTIVE STATE- Reluctant to enter into the parade yard and onto the track before refusing to proceed to the barrier and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:34pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the follow deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:34pm: 6cents in the dollar for the win7cents in the dollar for the place Trainer N Hemmings was advised the gelding would be required to satisfactorily complete two consecutive barrier trials prior to again being permitted to start in a race. ZORAH- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner. Commenced to race awkwardly passing the 1000m and bumped the inside running rail before shifting out and bumping with another runner. BEAN COUNTER- Began awkwardly and lost ground before being obliged to ease off heels soon after the start. OVER THE FALLS- Shifted in and bumped with another runner on jumping. Bumped by another runner passing the 1000m. SHEZANUISANCE- Shifted out on jumping. On returning to scale Jockey M Schrapel advised that his saddle had slipped on jumping placing him at a disadvantage from that point on. JUNGLELAND- Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority. LOUVRE LIL- Slow to begin. CHAMPION BALLERINA- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. SIMPLY ROSE- Raced wide for the majority. Following the running of the event the racing surface was downgraded to a Soft 6 Race 3: GILLOTT CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100m SIDEWALK- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. AIRWING- Slow into stride. DEVINE FACTOR- Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Performed below market expectations. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Trainer I Turner was advised the gelding would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race. COOL INTELLIGENCE- Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Commenced to hang out from the 800m and took no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B Robinson was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. ZUIICHI- Jockey L Miller dropped his whip approaching the 200m. Race 4: ST MARY’S KINDERGATED BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100m ASTROPHYSICS- Due to a clerical and administrative error the mare may have been shown as racing without blinkers in some form guides. This was incorrect and the mare was to race with that piece of gear. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement. Slow to begin before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. FRIVOLOSOHPY- Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. FILLYRAE CYRUS- Commenced to tire from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. REACHFORTHESTARS- Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: ASSUMPTION COLLEGE WARWICK QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1500m POINT THE WAGON- Trainer V Heading was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67 for late declaration of rider on the gelding. THE BIG EATER- Slow to begin before being slow into stride. ONE OF THE KIND- Obliged to steady passing the 250m when taken in onto the heels of another runner which was laying out. OAKFIELD TARGET- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running shifting out and inconveniencing ONE OF THE KIND (App Z Sprie), which had been taken in by DELANEY’S GIRL (M Wishart), passing the 250m. Jockey L Miller was reprimanded as a result of this incident. Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Miller advised that, in his opinion, the gelding was met with tougher competition today than in its most recent starts adding that he believes the gelding may prefer racing on a dirt surface. Stewards noted the comments. DELANEY’S GIRL- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running shifting in passing the 250m taking ONE OF THE KIND (App Z Sprie) in onto the heels of OAKFIELD TARGET (L Miller) which was simultaneously laying out. Jockey M Wishart was reprimanded as a result of this incident. JELLISHOT- Performed below market expectations. App M Philpott advised that, in her opinion, the mare didn’t handle the track but travelled fairly before not letting down as expected. Trainer D Baker suggested the mare does her best away from this particular track adding that being caught wide throughout may have been a telling factor in the finish. Mr Baker undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent in the mares condition in the coming days. Stewards noted the explanations. Race 6: HUTCHUNSON BUILDERS OPEN HANDICAP 1100m KRAKATOA ERUPTION- Fractious in the barrier. LADY MELBA- Slow into stride. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running. BROTHERLY SECRET- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. VICEMAN- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running. WAIT A MINUTE- Slow into stride.
