QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT WONDAI – SOUTH BURNETT RACE CLUB SATURDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. Hanson Stewards – L. De Witt – Rowson (Asst. Steward) GENERAL Race 1: RAFFIN ELECTRICAL BURNETT TO THE BEACH SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1000m) NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Rider Apprentice N Palasthy reported that in her opinion NO BETTER AFFAIRE may not have been suited by todays racing surface. ABLETT – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MY ONE. Inclined to lay in entering in the home straight. Blundered passing the 200m. Laid in under pressure for the remainder. MY ONE – Bumped on jumping. Jockey C Meehan was fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) in that he accepted a ride when he was more than 0.5kg over the mares allotted weight. Jockey Meehan was permitted to retain the ride as there were no other suitable riders available. When considering penalty Stewards considered all relevant factors including Jockey Meehan being delayed due to transport difficulties, his record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea. OPAQUELY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. LIPSTICK LIES – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the duration of the event. Race 2: SEILER EARTHMOVING BM60 HANDICAP (850m) HOLIDAY DREAMS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ALLOCATE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Slow into stride. Resented the kickback from today’s racing surface. MERSEY GIRL – Raced wide throughout. FROZEN MISS – On arrival at the barriers, underwent a resaddle at the request of the rider. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey M Butler reported that the mare was slow to muster speed and resented the early kickback from today’s racing surface. Race 3: TARONG POWER STATIONS & MEANDU MINE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (850m) EMPEROR TEIO – Shifted in on jumping.Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ABSALON TULIP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Began awkwardly and bumped PLATINUM ROSE. KINOSHITA – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground between BRAIDWOOD PRINCE which shifted out and EMPEROR TEIO which shifted in. Momentarily steadied passing the100m when SHE’S SO SWANK laid in under pressure before being straightened by its rider. Apprentice B Moffat was only able to claim 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance. Apprentice Moffat was fined $100 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) in that he failed to claim his allocated allowance.When considering penalty Stewards considered all relevant factors including Apprentice Moffat’s record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea. PLATINUM ROSE – Bumped on jumping. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. QUEEN NINA (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the event. SHE’S SO SWANK – Taken wider on the track passing the 600m when BRAIDWOOD PRINCE shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SPRESSI – Blundered on jumping. BRAIDWOOD PRINCE – Shifted out on jumping. Shifted out passing the 600m taking SHE’S SO SWANK wider on the track. Resented the kickback from today’s racing surface. Race 4: THE MONICA RYAN & KATHLEEN HOULT MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP (1577m) Prior to the running of race four, Stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected an area of the track in the home straight at the 175m, where riders had expressed some concerns about the stability of the racing surface in this area. After consultation with Club officials, it was established that this area had undergone previous remedial works and the clay base under the sand was not as firm as other parts of the track. Subsequently, riders in general discussed the matter and expressed the view that it was safe to ride across this section of the track in a race and the remainder of the program was able to proceed. THE WELLIAN – Began awkwardly. SUMMER STAR –Bumped on jumping. HE’S VIRAL (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. MISSAYTER – Bumped shortly after the start. GLENGARRY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. Jockey T Wheeler reported that after being caught wide outside the leaders in the early stages he restrained GLENGARRY to obtain a position closer to the rail with cover, but in doing so the mare resented the kickback from todays racing surface and proved to be disappointing. LONERGY – Blundered passing the1150m causing Apprentice P Carter to become momentarily unbalanced. Shifted out passing the 200m before being straightened by its rider. HELL OF A PRINCE –Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped MISSAYTER. GIRRAMAY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 5: THE ROY AND GLENIS RADUNZ WONDAI CUP. WONDAI CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1577m) MAN IN THE MIRROR – Jockey H Phillips reported that in her opinion MAN IN THE MIRROR was not suited by todays track conditions. SCOTTISH PRINCE – Began awkwardly and bumped WAR TOO ALL. Raced wide for the majority of the event. WAR TOO ALL – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
