On return to scale a protest was lodged by Jockey D. Simmons, rider of the 4th placegetter, STYLISH LUCK, against FINAL CHAPTER being declared the 3rd placegetter, on the grounds of interference passing the 1200m.  After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video, it was established that passing the 1200m
FINAL CHAPTER shifted in and caused STYLISH LUCK to be taken inwards, which had to be checked and lost ground. In the opinion of Stewards, the interference sustained by STYLISH LUCK at this stage materially affected its finishing position, particularly given the beaten margin of a nose between the runners at the finish. Therefore the protest was upheld  and amended the  placings to read:    No. 5 – HEARTBREAK HARRY – 1st
No. 4 – KNOWING ME – 2nd No. 7 – STYLISH LUCK - 3rd No. 2 – FINAL CHAPTER – 4th.  Subsequently, A. Taylor, rider of FINAL CHAPTER, was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to prevent her mounts shifting ground.
