QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT YEPPOON TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 1st FEBRUARY, 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT7RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T HudsonStewards – J Adams & E Suli (cadet) Clerk of Scales – W WellburnJudge – K PitcherVeterinarian – Dr P McCoskerSwab Official – N BoyleStarter – J Wilson GENERAL Stewards conducted a track inspection at 6.30am after the track received 50mL rain during the week and a small amount overnight. After inspecting the track, Stewards downgraded the track to a Soft 7. Race 1: WADE ROTHERY – ONE NATION PARTY CLB HCP – 950M PIRLO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SEQUALO’S SPIRIT – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. BELZU – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FROZE – Hung out throughout the race placing its rider at a disadvantage. OUR GIRL TAMIYA - Jumped awkwardly. ORANGE POP – Slow to begin. Apprentice E Smith reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and proved difficult to ride, placing her at a disadvantage throughout the event. Trainer Mr V Heading was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly. Following the running of Race 1, Stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected the track following a significant downpour. After the inspection both parties were satisfied to continue on with the program, with Stewards altering the race program due to more impending rain, to ensure completion of the meeting. Race 2: STAR LIQUOR RAILWAY HOTEL QTIS MDN PLT – 1200M Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey C McIver, rider of ATTARD, to view the patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds for a protest. After viewing the available films, he declined to protest and correct weight was declared. ATTARD – Taken wider approaching the winning post. KING KAI – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. POINT THE WAGON – Travelled wide in the early stages. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. SPRING BEAT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in over 12 months and passed fit to start. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. OUR GIRL FIFI – In the vicinity of the 600m, had to be checked off the heels of AWESOME BELL which was weakening noticeably. AWESOME BELL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and passed fit to start. Rider M Milford reported the filly raced greenly throughout. A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened badly in the straight, revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Sigvart will be advised a warning would be placed on the record of AWESOME BELL for its competitiveness after being beaten 29 lengths. Race 3: REGALS DENTAL BM45 HCP – 1200M LUBYOUFOREVER – Raced wide in the early stages. THE CLANG AFFAIR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in over 12 months and passed fit to start. Raced wide in the early stages. FAY ELEMENT – Slow into stride. Jockey M Haley reported the mare failed to travel at any stage of the race and was disappointing in its finishing effort. LENNON’S PADDOCK – Momentarily held up for clear running when entering the home straight. Race 4: G.J. GARDNER HOMES YEPPOON BM65 HCP – 1200M Prior to correct weight being declared, Stewards enquired into the circumstances into why L Dillon, rider of STATIC LIFT, failed to carry the required 60.5 kilograms, being 0.6 kilograms underweight. After hearing all evidence from L Dillon and a stable representative from the Bevan Johnson stable, it was ascertained that after weighing out correctly, L Dillon then swapped a girth for a lighter one, which made STATIC LIFT carry the incorrect weight. Acting under AR209(2)(a), Stewards disqualified STATIC LIFT from its seventh placing and correct weight was then declared. At a subsequent enquiry, L Dillon plead guilty to a charge under AR209(2)(b) in that he knowingly swapped a girth without notifying a stable representative, the clerk of scales or stewards which lead to STATIC LIFT carrying the incorrect weight and being disqualified as a result. L Dillon was fined a sum of $500. At a further enquiry, L Dillon was found guilty of a charge under AR232(i) in that he gave false or misleading evidence by stating that a stable representative had requested a change of girth after the weighing process. After hearing evidence contrary to that by the stable representative did L Dillon admit to this statement being false and that he was responsible for swapping the girth without notifying the clerk of scales. L Dillon was fined the sum of $1000 and was advised of his rights to an internal review on both charges. FIDERUS – Wide throughout. Made contact with the hindquarters of DOUBLE EM in the vicinity of the 200m.L’AMOUR MALADE – Shifted out under pressure in the vicinity of the 200m. MALKARA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DOUBLE EM – Raced in restricted room after L’AMOUR MALADE shifted out under pressure in the vicinity of the 200m. Race 5: LION NATHAN XXXX BM60 HCP – 1400M STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Rider L Dillon pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, with six of those strikes being consecutive and 20 strikes in totality. L Dillon was fined a sum of $400.
