Bumped near the 300m. Rider questioned regarding why he moved from a trailing position wider on track after passing 1500m. He said the horse overraced early and when Usainity was racing 3 wide he elected to trail that runner and improve around the field in the middle stages. He added that the horse was disappointing in its finishing effort when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight. Stewards noted his explanation regarding his tactics.

Cast its off hind plate on the way to the barriers and the farrier attempted to refit this plate but was unable to do so due to the fractious behaviour of the horse. An attempt was then made to remove the near hind plate, which was also unsuccessful, and after consulting with the veterinary surgeon regarding the condition of horse's feet, stewards permitted the gelding to race without its off hind plate.
