Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition and then blundered shortly after. Forced wider near the 300m when CHIEF HAVOC shifted out when weakening. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Bumped another runner at the start. Raced three wide without cover until obtaining cover near the 600m. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse’s performance, jockey J. Stanley stated that after being obliged to race wide throughout the event the gelding was still disappointing in its overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer G. Newham advised that the gelding may not have appreciated today's firm surface and he indicated that he will now send the gelding for a spell.
