Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained during the early and middle stages. Performed below market expectations. Jockey Murphy reported that the gelding travelled only fairly during the event and when placed under pressure near the 600m failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied when placed in restricted room when racing to the inside of WAIKATO which laid in after being taken in slightly by BADGE OF GAMNESS which shifted in marginally. Jockey C Meehan’s saddle shifted to the off side in the home straight placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder.
