Stewards questioned apprentice J. Brand in respect of her riding from the 600m. Of concern to stewards was her lack of vigour from that point of the race. Apprentice Brand reported that her mount had not travelled strongly throughout the event and, in her opinion, did not appreciate the firm track conditions despite her efforts to improve from the 600m. After having had the opportunity to review the footage of the race with stewards, apprentice Brand agreed that she had erred in not placing the horse under greater pressure than she did from the 600m.
