Trainer D. Vandyke was questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance as compared with its 5th at Ipswich on 7 April. He stated that at Ipswich the instructions were to ride forward, however the mare was unable to hold that position and got back to near the tail of the field and was forced wider on the home turn. He said today the mare was allowed to hold a position behind runners and was able to sprint when placed under pressure.
