Questioned re tactics - began well anticipated would muster speed and settle outside leader. Then reluctant to ride vigorously as had previously shown tendency to overrace. As a consequence raced wide without cover throughout. Rider conceded may have erred in failing to ride vigorously from barriers. Trainer anticipated settling on speed but noted as 2yr old horse had, despite beginning well, taken time to reach top speed in early stages. Despite wide run thought horse would win before dipping near the 200m and losing momentum. Explanation noted.
