Trainer L. Ross advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field. Became fractious in the parade ring, reared and momentarily slipped, examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and was cleared to race. Overraced when racing wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward outside the leader by the 900m.

Held up in the early part of the home straight and was inclined to lay in and near the 200m altered course to the outside of PATTY’S FORTUNE in order to improve.

When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, apprentice J. Huxtable explained that the colt did not feel comfortable in its action during the race and he was of the view that it could be shin sore. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be shin sore. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the colt will require a veterinary clearance or would be ineligible to race for 6 weeks.

Trainer L. Ross advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. Commenced to hang out despite the efforts of its rider from the 900m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event and made the home turn extremely wide. A post-race veterinary examination found the filly to be exhibiting sores in the mouth and also on its back. Mr Ross was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance and must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
