Examined at the barriers and passed fit to race. Pulled hard and raced wide in the early stages. When questioned, jockey B. Nothdurft stated that after pulling and being caught wide in the early stages he managed to obtain the lead as expected. However when placed under pressure in the straight the gelding disappointed and failed to respond to his riding. Trainer T. Gollan stated that WESTHAM has now had 2 hard runs within a short space of time, which may have contributed to the performance today, and as such he would now space out the gelding’s future starts.
