Raced keenly in the early stages and shortly after passing the winning post the first time eased when racing tight to the inside of CALIBRATION, which was carried inwards slightly by GRAND SHANGHAI. As a result of this POPULIST got its head up and proved difficult to settle, shifting outwards across the heels of CALIBRATION, and then continued to prove very difficult to settle until near the 1400m. Laid inwards under pressure over the final 200m.
