Lee stated that he was disappointed with the horse's performance at its previous start at Doomben, however prior to that the gelding raced well at Grafton on 10 June. He was of the belief that a senior rider may have been beneficial to its performance today.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the horse and the performance today, jockey R. McMahon stated he had been instructed to ride the mare more conservatively today to allow it to run out a strong 2200m, and that whilst his mount travelled well in the middle stages, it was under pressure prior to the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be coughing. Trainer B. Smith will be interviewed regarding today's performance.
