Although a barrier blanket had been worn when racing in Victoria in the charge of a different trainer, the gelding had trialled in Queensland without a barrier blanket and a barrier blanket was not used in the barriers today. Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 100m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had bled from the offside nostril. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was advised that the horse must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.
