When questioned jockey J. Byrne explained that his intention was to try and settle the filly midfield and obtain cover if possible. He explained from the jump and wide draw he was unable to fulfil the instructions and it became evident to him in the early stages that the filly was reluctant to relax and pulled very hard and despite his efforts overraced badly and hung out from the 900m until straightening. Hung out from the 800m until straightening. Jockey B. Stewart explained that when crossed by ROCK GARDEN his horse overraced badly when inclined to hang out, and then from the 800m continued to shift out away from SNOW DRIFTER. He added he would recommend to connections that blinkers be applied to the horse at its next start.
