Brooker pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(i)(ii) in that she used her whip on 17 occasions prior to the 100m, a number of which were in consecutive strides and 10 times inside the 100m. Apprentice Brooker was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days, to commence at midnight, 6 May and to expire at midnight, 13 May. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account her previous record regarding whip use penalties and that today’s race was a Group 3 event.

A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey D. Browne reported that the colt did not stretch out throughout the event and was disappointing. Trainer S. Kendrick advised he would have blood tests taken from the gelding and would report the results to stewards.
