OSAMU underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities, however the gelding slipped over post race in the tie up stalls following the examination and pulled the left hind plate off, stepping on the toe clip, causing lameness. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed the patrol footage and took evidence from the starters P. Cousin and S. Lister, jockey J. Byrne and stable representative C. Cavanough. Stewards were of the opinion that SHAMROCK LU reared as the start was affected and other than for its own actions had been afforded a fair start, and declared SHAMROCK LU a runner and correct weight was declared on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
