Stewards acceded to a request from trainer A. Barnes to remove the pacifiers due to the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which commenced to weaken from the 700m, and which was eventually eased out of the event near the 400m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
