Near the 400m improved onto the heels of GENERAL COS which had commenced to weaken and clipped the heels of that runner and blundered. Questioned re tactics - instructed to lead if slow tempo otherwise settle handy with cover. Concerned with speed early so elected to steady to obtain cover which resulted in her settling further back than anticipated. Stewards advised that she had erred in not making more of an effort to obtain a forward position in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

App. S Fawke reported that it was not his intention to race outside the lead, however, when caught wide early, he elected to press forward to obtain a position closer to the fence.
