When questioned regarding the performance, App. B Ainsworth stated that in her opinion the gelding was better suited over further distances and as a consequence was obliged to race further back than anticipated today. App. Ainsworth conceded that had she remained on the back of RAINBOW MAGIC rounding the home turn instead of shifting wider on the track the gelding may have finished closer. Bearing in mind the instructions which were confirmed by Trainer B Guy to shift out upon straightening, stewards did not believe that App. Ainsworth’s error was culpable under the rules of racing.
