Questioned re riding & overall performaces - Jockey stated slow to begin and failed to respond to riding and lost ground on field. Passing 900m blundered and considered easing it down. Passing 700m gelding commenced to improve and made up ground, held up in the early stages of home straight. Unable to improve into run over concluding stages as gelding was hanging in. Trainer stated it had been slow to begin at 2 starts this campaign and had removed blinkers and added earmuffs in an attempt to have the gelding settle closer. Reported that subsequent vet exam revealed soreness to near hind leg.
