Jockey G Goold reported that it was not his intention to lead today however, as his mount was first up from a lengthy spell and with the slow tempo in the early stages, he allowed it to stride forward to the lead.

When questioned as to the tactics adopted, App. M Murphy stated that his instructions were to ride the mare in a similar manner to its last start where it raced in a midfield position. App. Murphy added that after beginning on terms with the field, he was obliged to restrain to comply with those instructions. App. Murphy was of the opinion that the mare was not suited by the slow tempo.
