Added after settling at rear of field in early stages elected to stride forward when pace slackened near 1100m. Added not necessarily intention to lead however, was mindful gelding is one paced.

Rider questioned re disappointing performance - explained that it was his intention to settle closer to the speed today however, after being crossed by runners to his outside was shuffled further back than anticipated. Added gelding somewhat disappointing in home straight. Noted mount raced without a bit lifter, which is part of its normal racing gear. Vetted - no abnormalities. Swab sample.
