Near 600m steadied. Stewards questioned Jockey M McGuren re tactics adopted whereby the gelding settled further back in field today than anticipated. Jockey McGuren advised instructed to ride horse in a mid-field position if possible today and for that reason he did not overly bustle the horse early. He added that the gelding did not show the speed that he had anticipated in the early stages which he attributed to the gelding racing without the blinkers today and as a result settled further back in the field than he had anticipated. Stewards noted his explanation.
