Slow to begin. Then was ridden forward and caught 3 wide for the remainder of event. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, App. J Hodge explained that his instructions were to race in a forward position as the trainer believes that is where the gelding has trialled best. However, after being slowly away, he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward to comply with his instructions and was subsequently caught wide without cover.Stewards confirmed these instructions with Trainer H Page.
