Rider questioned re performance - stated gelding travelled fairly throughout race however, when placed under pressure and afforded clear running upon entering home straight failed to quicken as expected.

Began awkwardly. Rider questioned re tactics adopted when leading, which is in contrast to last start -stated instructions were to take up a forward position and possibly sit outside leader. Aadded after pressing forward and due to the slow tempo elected to stride forward to the outright lead. Stewards noted that gelding was having its second start for the stable and would expect it to be ridden in a similar manner in future events.
