When questioned as to the performance, App. B Nothdurft stated that he was obliged from a wide barrier to ride the gelding forward in the early stages to obtain the lead near the 900m. The gelding then raced keenly in the middle stages and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
