Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early stages. Approaching the 600m, steadied away from the heels of Sauerkraut which commenced to weaken. Leaving the 600m shifted out abruptly to avoid the fallen rider.

Commenced to weaken leaving the 700m and then near the 600m blundered of its own accord causing Jockey R. Plumb to be dislodged. At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards established that the incident was a direct result of the racing manners of Sauerkraut at that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
