When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer G. Petersen stated that the gelding appreciated todays firm surface noting that the gelding had been disappointing on rain affected surfaces at its most recent starts. He added that the step up in distance to 1400m was also beneficial to the improved performance. Stewards noted his explanation.

Blundered at the start. Leaving the 1200m laid in despite the efforts of its rider and struck the running rail on two occasions near the 1000m. Jockey D. Griffin reported at scale that his mount laid in badly throughout the event and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. Co-Trainer Brian Guy indicated to Stewards that he would now consider removing the blinkers for its future starts. Stewards advised Mr Guy that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
