After being held up approaching the 200m attempted to shift out to secure clear running however was prevented from doing so by another runner, which was hanging in, and as a consequence was held up for a considerable distance. Rider dropped his whip approaching the 100m.

Began awkwardly. Hung in during the early and middle stages. Stewards questioned rider in regards to his riding between the 700m until approaching the 400m as to whether there was an opportunity to place the colt under greater pressure at that point to improve when racing in a rearward position. Rider reported that he was instructed to ride the colt in a rearward position as it races best when ridden in this manner.
