Raced keenly in the early stages. Stewards questioned trainer G Doughty in relation to the seemingly improved performance. Mr Doughty advised that at Ballina last start it raced four-wide whilst also required to carry 60kg. Mr Doughty added that further in his opinion racing back at the Gold Coast where it had won on seven prior occasions, was the major contributing factor to the improved performance.

Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor reported that the gelding failed to travel strongly on the bit at any stage during the event and failed to quicken when placed under pressure. Apprentice Wilson-Taylor added that in his opinion the gelding also was not suited by the firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
