At the 800m had to be steadied off the heels of HIGHWAY QUEEN which shifted in to obtain the lead. Apprentice A. Fancourt, the rider of HIGHWAY QUEEN, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Slow into stride. Shortly after the start had to be checked off the heels of THE BURGLAR which was laying in and away from HIGHWAY QUEEN. When questioned, R. Fradd stated that after being slow into stride and being severely checked, the gelding raced further back than he would have liked, and then approaching the home turn he had to alter course when in restricted room, which forced him to lose some momentum at that point of the race, however the gelding then finished the race off quite well over the concluding stages and in his opinion would be better suited in races longer than that of today

Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Severely checked and lost its position near the 350m when PENNY A PITCH shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice M. Schrapel, the rider of PENNY A PITCH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in whilst losing ground at that point, causing the interference to RED REASON. Apprentice Schrapel's licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight on 26 November and expire at midnight on Wednesday 7 December 2016.
