Riderquestioned regarding tactics. He said that two starts ago at the Gold Coast the horse was ridden in a more forward position as instructed. He added that at its last start the horse began awkwardly and lost ground, settling further back over an unsuitable trip. He further added that he was instructed to ride aggressively in the early stages to settle in a forward position. Trainer confirmed that instructions have been previously to settle in a forward position, however last start, due to circumstances, settled further back than anticipated. Stewards noted both explananations.

Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after it was revealed that the gelding had a small cut on the nearside of its mouth and passed suitable to race. Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that a boil on the nearside of the horse’s mouth had burst. Trainer J. Chan will be advised that the veterinary surgeon recommends that the horse undergo treatment for the condition and that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the horse racing again.
