When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer G. Duncan advised that at its first run back from a spell at Warwick on 26 December 2017, the horse went back from its barrier and when attempting to improve approaching the home turn was forced wider by another runner and lost momentum. He added that given the circumstances of that occasion he was not overly disappointed in its performance, and that with the benefit of that run and being fitter for today’s event and with the small field, he gave the gelding a reasonable chance.
