Byrne advised that after being slow to begin he elected from the wide barrier to cross behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail. He added it was his intention to ride for luck after passing the 600m, however was held up for a considerable distance before obtaining clear running approaching the 200m. He further stated that, in his opinion the gelding finished the race off well.
