Laid in in the early stages of the home straight and passing the 200m had to be checked when awkwardly placed at the heels of MACHU PICCHU, which shifted out when not fully clear. Apprentice H. English, rider of MACHU PICCHU, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

After being caught 3 wide without cover in the early stages, then pressed forward to obtain a position outside the leader at the 700m. After passing the 400m had an inclination to hang in when beginning to weaken, and in the home straight proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke advised that in light of today’s performance he would recommend to connections that the gelding now leave his stable.
