Raced three wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward and racing outside the leader from 1000 metres. When asked to explain tactics from the 1000 metres, particularly her reason for pressuring SPICE TRADER from the 900 metres to the 700 metres, Apprentice KENNEDY stated her instructions were to lead as per its most recent start when successful at Gatton on 6th August 2020. In acknowledging these instructions, Stewards however were of the opinion App Kennedy had erred in continuing to pressure her mount at that point of the race, rather than steady SPICE TRADER when there
