Caught wide in the early stages of the event. Approaching the 1700 metres, when racing keenly, had to be eased to avoid the heels of CLASS OF ROYALTY and shortly after shifted out to a three wide position until passing the 1200 metres when was able to shift in and obtain cover. Weakened approaching the home turn and was retired from the event a short distance later. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the near hind leg. WAR’S END was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.
