Approaching the 1000m was placed in restricted room and had to be steadied between NEWS DIRECTOR and MAGINOT LINE, which shifted in slightly. Following the event it was noted the gelding had shifted the off fore plate.

Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey M. Palmer stated that after beginning awkwardly the gelding failed to travel comfortably throughout the event. He added at a point near the 500 he attempted to improve forward, however the gelding failed to respond to his riding and, in his view, felt sore behind. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer D.
