When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, which was below market expectations, Apprentice explained that he had been instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position, however when another runner improved to his inside, his mount was inclined to race keenly throughout and was a beaten horse prior to straightening for home. Trainer expressed disappointment with the performance, however was of the opinion that the gelding will be better suited in races over shorter distances. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
