When questioned regarding her riding Apprentice explained that she had been instructed to obtain a handy position however after beginning only fairly from the widest barrier she elected to restrain her mount in an attempt to find a position closer to the running rail. She said that when the pace slowed in the middle stages her mount commenced to over-race and rather than attempt to sustain a wide run she elected to remain racing at the rear of the field. She added that she then placed her mount under pressure near the 600 metres and it ran to the finish only fairly.
