When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey W. D’Avila stated that he was instructed to ride his mount to lead in today’s event and after beginning well was able to take up a position in the lead. He added that his mount began to overrace in the early stages and as a result he elected to allow the filly to stride forward in an attempt to settle.
