Jockey M. Cahill reported that his mount travelled well in the early stages, however after the 700m the horse dropped the bit and commenced to give ground, and as he was concerned with its action did not persist and eased the gelding down in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be significantly lame in the hind legs. Trainer Mr A.
