Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and again in the early stages of the home straight. Stewards asked N. Day to comment on the horse’s performance. He stated that after beginning awkwardly, the horse lost further ground when he momentarily lost the use of an iron, which took a short distance to regain. He indicated that he would have liked to have been in a more forward position, however the horse did not muster early speed. He added that the horse finished the race off strongly and in his opinion would be suited to racing over a further distance than that of today’s event.

Finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Hansen indicated that he would discuss the horse’s racing future with connections with a view to retirement. Mr Hansen was advised that should the horse continue its racing career, it must trial satisfactorily prior to its next start.
